Responsibilities
- Develop REST/gRPC APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and event-driven microservices for real-time and batch data consumption.
- Expose curated datasets from enterprise systems and IoT platforms through service-oriented components.
- Partner with Data Engineering on data pipelines, data contracts, and governance requirements.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access controls.
- Optimize services for scalability, high availability, and low-latency performance.
- Manage API versioning, monitoring, observability, documentation, and lifecycle practices.
- Deploy and manage services with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or Azure cloud-native platforms.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code templates, and automated deployment workflows.
- Collaborate with architects and product teams to align service designs with platform strategy.
- Apply code quality, testing, DevOps automation, and platform security best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on API development experience with REST, gRPC, and GraphQL.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java with Spring Boot and Python.
- Practical experience with AWS or Azure and Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Kafka or Event Hubs.
- Experience developing and operating CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred: experience with API gateways, developer portals, usage analytics, OAuth2, JWT, data virtualization, semantic layers, enterprise analytics platforms, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, data integration patterns, orchestration frameworks, OpenUSD, or Omniverse.
- Preferred: open-source participation or publications in platform engineering or Industry 4.0, and experience using AI agents to accelerate API and platform services development.
