Responsibilities
- Design and develop Java-based microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
- Develop and maintain REST APIs and event-driven integrations using OpenAPI, Swagger, and AsyncAPI standards.
- Build event-driven solutions with Kafka or Pulsar and implement outbox and transactional messaging patterns.
- Apply performance optimization and resiliency techniques including retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and asynchronous processing.
- Write high-quality code and apply unit, integration, and automated testing practices.
- Implement observability through logging, monitoring, tracing, and health checks.
- Follow secure coding standards and security and data protection guidelines.
- Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Containerize applications with Docker and deploy services on Kubernetes.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
- Support performance testing, troubleshooting, and production-readiness activities.
- Collaborate with architects, stakeholders, platform teams, internal teams, and vendors to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Share knowledge, support team members, and contribute to technical discussions and design reviews.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of software development experience, including 3+ years building Java microservices in production environments.
- Strong experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Maven or Gradle, and RESTful APIs.
- Good understanding of Kafka and event-driven architecture concepts.
- Solid knowledge of microservices and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Understanding of OAuth2, JWT, TLS, secure coding, and security concepts.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Vert.x or gRPC is advantageous.
- Preferred knowledge of CQRS, Event Sourcing, Temporal or Cadence, and Debezium or CDC.
- Preferred experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with API gateways and service mesh technologies.
- Exposure to platform engineering and internal developer platforms such as Backstage.
