Base Salary
$230k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery to identify infrastructure requirements, architecture constraints, scale targets, and migration complexity.
- Deliver customized demonstrations covering persistent compute, autoscaling, Postgres, background workers, cron jobs, Preview Environments, and Blueprints.
- Architect and run proof-of-concept deployments for LLM-powered applications, multi-service stacks, async pipelines, and other production workloads.
- Act as the technical expert for prospects migrating from Heroku, including complex multi-dyno architectures, large Postgres databases, and third-party add-ons.
- Create and maintain migration playbooks, demonstration environments, and proof-of-concept templates.
- Handle technical objections and competitive comparisons involving AWS, GCP, Railway, and Fly.io.
- Respond to technical RFP sections and security questionnaires.
- Collaborate with Account Executives to build consensus among engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure stakeholders.
- Turn field feedback into structured product input for Engineering and Product roadmap prioritization.
- Contribute to migration guides, blog posts, webinars, and other technical marketing content.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical sales at a cloud infrastructure, PaaS, or developer tools company.
- Deep hands-on familiarity with at least one major PaaS platform, such as Heroku, Render, Railway, or Fly.io.
- Proficiency across web servers, background workers, databases, caching layers, CI/CD pipelines, and container-based deployments.
- Ability to write Python, Ruby, Node.js, Go, or similar code well enough to debug deployments, adapt samples, and build proof-of-concept integrations.
- Understanding of private networking, egress control, TLS, and custom domains.
- Ability to present to VP-level engineering leaders and pair with developers on migration issues.
- Track record of managing multiple simultaneous technical evaluations while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
- Direct production workload migration experience from Heroku is preferred.
- Familiarity with Render Blueprints, Preview Environments, private services, and managed Postgres is preferred.
- Experience with AI/ML workloads, including LLM inference endpoints, GPU compute, vector databases, or model serving, is preferred.
- Technical content creation experience, such as migration guides, architecture blog posts, YouTube tutorials, or conference talks, is preferred.
- Exposure to Terraform and Pulumi and their interaction with PaaS abstractions is preferred.
- Experience in a quota-carrying or quota-influenced pre-sales role at a high-velocity startup is preferred.
