Responsibilities
- Define the architecture and technical strategy for tax calculation and reporting logic.
- Lead integrations with third-party tax providers and own the related technical partnerships.
- Drive resilience, uptime, scalability, and high-impact architectural decisions across services.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and automated testing practices.
- Deliver core tax functionality and build a strong technical foundation for future growth.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the engineering team and help shape hiring as the team scales.
Requirements
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience with Go, PHP, Kotlin, Java, or Python.
- Proven experience designing and owning high-load, distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
- Solid experience with queues or streams.
- Experience with unit, integration, functional, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.
- Preferred experience with Kafka, AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, fintech or payments, VAT, GST, Sales Tax, and managing or leading teams.
