Responsibilities
- Own detailed design and implementation of RTP features, services, and subsystems.
- Drive end-to-end delivery from design through production support.
- Remain hands-on with critical paths, complex integrations, and performance-sensitive components.
- Lead code reviews and uphold software quality, security, performance, and maintainability standards.
- Define and support performance, scalability, reliability, security, observability, and capacity requirements.
- Participate in performance testing, production-readiness reviews, incident analysis, root-cause identification, and remediation.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for a team or feature area.
- Mentor engineers, support onboarding, and promote technical knowledge sharing.
- Identify technical debt and improve platform reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, QA, and Operations.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of software engineering experience, including building and supporting enterprise backend systems.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and building distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Practical experience with performance tuning, scalability, and failure handling.
- Experience working in production environments with on-call or operational responsibility.
- Strong backend engineering experience using Java/Spring or similar languages and frameworks.
- Experience with messaging, APIs, and data persistence technologies.
- Familiarity with observability tools, logging frameworks, and monitoring approaches.
- Comfort leading technical work while remaining hands-on and collaborating across functions.
- Exposure to cloud and containerized environments is preferred.
- Experience in payments or other regulated, high-availability systems is a plus.
