Base Salary

$180k - $220k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and own enterprise cloud architecture across AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and on-premises or hybrid environments.
  • Create solution design documents, network diagrams, data-flow maps, and ATO artifacts aligned to NIST RMF, ICD 503, and FedRAMP.
  • Define cloud security standards covering Zero Trust Architecture, identity and access management, encryption, and workload isolation.
  • Lead cloud migration planning and execution, including workload assessment and rehost, replatform, or refactor strategies.
  • Architect high-availability cloud networks using VPC/VNET designs, transit gateways, private connectivity, and cross-domain integrations.
  • Partner with ISSM and ISSO teams on Cloud Security Plans, System Security Plans, and continuous monitoring.
  • Establish infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep and promote secure, repeatable deployment pipelines.
  • Evaluate cloud technologies and vendors and provide documented build-versus-buy-versus-configure recommendations.
  • Act as the primary cloud architecture authority for assigned programs and engage with government customers, authorizing officials, and prime contractors.
  • Mentor cloud engineers, DevSecOps practitioners, and junior architects while establishing architecture review and governance processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, or a related technical field; equivalent experience is considered, and a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 8–12 years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or solutions architecture, including at least four years designing cloud solutions for DoD, intelligence community, or federal programs.
  • Production cloud architecture experience with AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government, including landing zones, networking, and IAM.
  • Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or equivalent, along with CI/CD pipeline security and DevSecOps.
  • Working knowledge of FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-144, CMMC Level 2/3, and DFARS cloud security requirements.
  • Experience supporting NIST RMF authorization activities, including cloud-specific SSP artifacts and continuous monitoring strategies.
  • Active Secret clearance is required at hire; TS/SCI eligibility is strongly preferred and some assignments may require an upgrade.
  • Experience with Cross Domain Solutions or multi-level security architectures, NSA/CSS cloud standards, DoD CC SRG, IC cloud policy, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, service meshes, and cloud-native security tooling is preferred.
  • Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF 9/10, or equivalent certifications.
