Responsibilities
- Architect and implement high-performance C++ and Python systems across cross-platform environments.
- Lead the design and integration of distributed systems, simulation tools, and third-party hardware and software.
- Define technical direction, design patterns, and integration practices across projects.
- Guide development of messaging and API layers using technologies such as gRPC, REST, and ZeroMQ.
- Own CI/CD pipelines and build tooling using GitLab CI, Docker, Conan, and CMake.
- Lead debugging and optimization of real-time and multithreaded systems.
- Drive end-to-end integration, implementation, planning, and verification across simulation and operational systems.
- Mentor engineers, lead efforts involving 10 or more contributors, and improve shared tooling and processes.
- Evaluate and incorporate technologies that improve performance, stability, and developer efficiency.
Requirements
- Typically requires 7 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 5 years with a master’s degree, 4 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Advanced experience designing and maintaining large C++ systems, including C++14, C++17, C++20, and legacy C++98/03 codebases.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and system-level development and debugging tools.
- Strong experience with distributed systems, real-time processing, systems integration, and hardware/software interfaces.
- Significant experience with CI/CD systems, containerization, and build tooling.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with scripting and automation tools.
- Demonstrated success leading technical planning and mentorship for efforts involving 10 or more contributors.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and communication protocols.
- Preferred experience includes AFSIM, NGTS, message-passing infrastructure, gRPC, REST APIs, message queues, UCI, OMS, avionics data buses, autonomy frameworks, real-time operators, and modeling or analysis pipelines.
- Windows experience is a bonus.
