Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of experienced engineers and Tech Leads.
- Drive technical direction, roadmap, and detailed planning with the engineering manager.
- Design and architect a scalable, resilient, and performant distributed filesystem backend for Filestore.
- Make key decisions about technology choices, system design, and trade-offs.
- Collaborate with product managers, SREs, and engineering teams across File-solutions, Storage, and Google Cloud to align technical strategy with product goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of software-development experience in one or more programming languages, including data structures and algorithms.
- 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or working with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- Experience with cross-functional collaboration and decision-making across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: Experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: Experience with storage systems, distributed-systems architecture, data replication, and disaster-recovery technologies.
- Preferred: Experience programming in C/C++.
