Base Salary
$176k - $196k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and scale Compass’s platform for real estate professionals, buyers, and sellers.
- Lead the design and development of scalable, fault-tolerant distributed microservices.
- Architect services using decoupled systems and event-driven patterns.
- Support automated testing, monitoring, and operational excellence across the platform.
- Become a domain expert in real estate technology and partner empathetically with customers.
- Inspire, recruit, and mentor fellow engineers.
- Contribute to high-visibility projects across search, authorization, and end-to-end transaction management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of experience developing comprehensive, well-tested, high-performance software applications.
- Proficiency in Java, Go, or Python.
- Experience with gRPC, Thrift, and other server-to-server communication protocols.
- Experience with Kafka and event-driven systems.
- At least 3 years of experience using AWS or other cloud technologies.
- High proficiency designing and implementing well-tested, fault-tolerant, scalable microservices.
- Understanding of industry-standard software development and architecture practices.
- Experience with Scrum or Agile development methodologies.
- Strong critical-thinking, communication, and operational-excellence skills.
