Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for embedded firmware and software validation.
- Design, scale, and maintain SIL and HIL validation infrastructure for automated system-level testing, regression coverage, release readiness, and issue reproduction.
- Build automated validation frameworks and metrics covering test coverage, defect escape rate, regression health, automation coverage, and release readiness.
- Lead validation planning for new features, firmware releases, connectivity workflows, and system-level product behavior.
- Partner with Hardware, Firmware, Systems, Mobile, Cloud, Product, and Test Engineering teams to ensure requirements are testable and validation plans are aligned.
- Lead root-cause analysis for complex issues across hardware, firmware, embedded software, connectivity, and test infrastructure.
- Develop Python-based automated test tooling and integrate validation workflows into Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar systems.
- Use SIL/HIL environments, embedded debug tools, logs, sniffers, and hardware interfaces to reproduce and isolate defects.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and communicate validation status, technical risks, quality trends, and release readiness to leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in software quality engineering and embedded systems testing.
- Technical leadership experience scaling complex validation frameworks and leading validation strategy or test architecture for embedded, connected, automotive, mobility, IoT, or software-defined vehicle platforms.
- Hands-on experience building automated validation frameworks for firmware, embedded software, system-level testing, or hardware-in-the-loop environments.
- Experience testing RTOS-based or Linux-based embedded systems, including embedded architectures, microcontrollers, bootloaders, firmware updates, and hardware/software interfaces.
- Practical experience with JTAG, serial consoles, SWD, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or equivalent embedded debug tools.
- Experience validating connectivity, location services, mobile-connected features, or wireless technologies including cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, or GNSS.
- Strong Python programming and scripting skills with Robot Framework, Pytest, or similar automation frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar CI and automated validation platforms.
- Experience with SIL and HIL validation, test execution, automation, reporting, defect reproduction, and regression analysis.
