Responsibilities
- Build Mercury’s integration with an FFIEC-approved bank core and payment networks.
- Design internal APIs for product teams to interface with complex external systems.
- Manage enterprise integration challenges such as retries, failures, and format mismatches.
- Develop data pipelines to keep systems in sync with the bank core.
- Own monitoring, alerting, and recovery for critical external connections.
- Collaborate with other teams to define boundaries and reliable contracts.
- Help shape the technical architecture of Mercury Bank.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend infrastructure and distributed systems.
- Experience integrating modern distributed systems with legacy infrastructure in a regulated environment.
- Understanding of banking systems, including accounts, transactions, and ledgers.
- Product-minded approach, focusing on developer experience with APIs.
- Ability to thrive in new building environments rather than maintaining established systems.
- Familiarity with Haskell or willingness to learn.
- Strong opinions on building reliable and maintainable systems.
