Base Salary
$140k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and transform the developer experience for DeepL APIs through self-service experiences, onboarding flows, and customization interfaces.
- Build reusable API platform components, documentation, starter templates, and client libraries or SDKs.
- Drive API architecture and standards across enterprise, text, voice, and customization teams.
- Implement automated quality gates, contract testing, monitoring infrastructure, and practices that prevent breaking changes and vulnerabilities.
- Own services end to end, including production operations, incident response, testing, SLOs, and continuous improvement.
- Use AI-powered tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, and other engineering work.
Requirements
- Deep expertise designing scalable backend systems, RESTful APIs, and distributed architectures using Go, Python, Java, C#, or similar.
- Ability to work across the stack with React and TypeScript for dashboards, signup flows, and configuration interfaces.
- Track record of end-to-end service ownership, including production operations and incident response.
- Experience writing comprehensive tests, learning from incidents, and maintaining mature SLOs.
- Product-first API mindset focused on developer usability, clear abstractions, reduced cognitive load, and strong documentation.
- Ability to make architectural decisions, solve complex problems, and collaborate across engineering and product teams.
