Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance secure, scalable, and performant backend software using Java and related technologies.
- Design and implement authentication and identity solutions aligned with Mastercard architectures, standards, and requirements.
- Write unit, integration, and contract tests and maintain comprehensive testing and systems documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture collaboration, technical decision-making, and engineering guild knowledge sharing.
- Mentor junior engineers and partner with product owners, Scrum Masters, QA, architects, security, platform, and other cross-functional teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations and production support, including root cause analysis and reliability improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, processes, and delivery efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent education.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and backend development.
- Experience building microservices-based architectures and hands-on experience with AI Agents.
- Understanding of software engineering concepts, methodologies, testing, quality processes, and secure development practices.
- Ability to solve complex problems independently, communicate effectively, collaborate across distributed teams, and learn new technologies.
- Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments.
- Preferred experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker or Kubernetes; Kafka and messaging systems; OWASP, authentication, and authorization; performance tuning; resiliency; and fault-tolerant design.
- Preferred experience with high-throughput, low-latency, or regulated systems such as payments, banking, or fintech.
