Base Salary

$131k - $237k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for software development teams of 5–15 engineers.
  • Define full-stack software architecture and design patterns for missile system applications covering guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, and mission planning.
  • Lead technical, design, and code reviews and ensure software quality, compliance, modularity, reusability, portability, and maintainability.
  • Make technical decisions regarding tools, frameworks, and development approaches.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with government customers and program management.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level software engineers.
  • Champion open systems architectures and Modular Open Systems Approach adoption with standardized interfaces.
  • Support flight-test operations and post-test analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to military and aviation standards for safety, cybersecurity, and RMF.
  • Develop, integrate, test, troubleshoot, field, support, and maintain software products for embedded and embedded-adjacent systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, or an equivalent technical degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • At least 12 years of relevant technical experience, or 10 years with a related master’s degree.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Relevant experience developing, integrating, testing, or troubleshooting embedded software or applications interfacing with embedded systems.
  • Residence in or willingness to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.
  • Experience leading software development teams on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Expert-level C/C++ experience.
  • Experience with Python or Java.
  • Familiarity with real-time embedded systems and RTOS environments such as VxWorks or FreeRTOS.
  • Experience with software configuration management, software quality engineering, and established software standards and practices.
  • Preferred experience with open systems architectures, MOSA, FACE, OMS, SOSA, embedded missile or aerospace systems, weapons development, containerization, microservices, guidance and control, navigation, mission planning, sensors, MBSE, SysML, DO-178C, MIL-STD-882e, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, MATLAB, and Simulink.
  • Preferred formal software leadership experience involving direct reports, staffing, or performance management, along with strong communication, problem-solving, architecture, and systems-thinking skills.
