Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship client ETL pipelines that transform raw bank data into validated mappings for the FIRE regulatory data standard.
- Maintain and improve the shared ETL framework, including schema validation, file handling, and the FastAPI service layer.
- Write efficient mapping, validation, ground-truth, and regression tests for ETL integrations.
- Review code, provide peer feedback, and mentor junior engineers on Python practices and software design.
- Collaborate with QA, product, senior engineers, and client-facing teams to resolve ambiguous source-data specifications and deliver reliable features.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional experience building production software in Python.
- Experience with FastAPI or a similar web framework.
- Strong understanding of ETL and data-mapping patterns for inconsistent real-world source data.
- Hands-on experience with structured data validation such as JSON Schema.
- Professional Docker experience, including multi-stage builds.
- Understanding of RESTful API design, Git, git submodules, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Comfort working in a strictly typed and linted Python codebase with type hints, static type checking, and enforced formatting standards.
- Track record of shipping and owning production features, communicating technical decisions clearly, and maintaining accuracy in data that feeds regulatory filings.
- Experience with DuckDB or another embedded or columnar analytical engine, large-volume data pipelines, financial services or regulatory reporting, or schema-driven data standards is preferred.
