Base Salary
$216k - $283k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture of a high-scale network monitoring platform, from data modeling and ingestion to cloud-native deployment.
- Architect streaming ingestion and processing pipelines and time-series storage for telemetry from hundreds of thousands of devices.
- Define and maintain the unified YANG-based data model for device state, operational telemetry, and network topology.
- Write and review production Go and/or Rust for collectors, aggregators, and real-time processing engines.
- Establish data partitioning, sharding, and retention strategies for high-volume device event streams.
- Lead Kubernetes, service mesh, and autoscaling deployment patterns across multi-cloud environments.
- Evaluate and adopt time-series databases, graph stores, and stream processors for scalable and maintainable operations.
- Partner with Product and Engineering on platform capabilities, roadmap milestones, and engineering specifications.
- Mentor senior engineers through architecture reviews, coding standards, and hands-on technical guidance.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience in software or platform architecture, including at least 5 years leading architecture for large-scale, data-intensive distributed systems.
- Substantial experience building and operating device monitoring systems at scale, including telemetry ingestion, fleet management, and real-time alerting.
- Proven hands-on production coding ability, preferably in Go and/or Rust.
- Deep expertise in high-volume data modeling, time-series storage, event streaming, and graph data models for network topology.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native application design, containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, microservices, and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Proficiency in both Go and Rust is preferred, with production services shipped in at least one.
- Background with network management platforms or network equipment vendors such as Juniper, Cisco, or Nokia is preferred.
- Familiarity with gNMI, NETCONF, or SNMP is preferred.
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms with data isolation, schema evolution, and customer-tier scalability is preferred.
- Open-source infrastructure or observability contributions, published technical writing, and familiarity with high-throughput data collection techniques are preferred.
