Base Salary
$177k - $365k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the observability roadmap, translating engineering needs into measurable technical solutions.
- Architect, build, and scale distributed observability infrastructure for metrics, logs, and traces.
- Build high-performance data pipelines and storage for real-time and historical telemetry analysis.
- Establish observability standards and patterns that simplify service instrumentation and actionable insight generation.
- Mentor engineers, lead architectural reviews, and influence technical decisions across teams.
- Partner with SRE, Infrastructure, Product Engineering, and other teams to improve developer productivity, reliability, and performance.
- Evaluate emerging observability tools and techniques and drive their adoption.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 7 years of experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong data engineering experience with data pipelines, time-series databases, columnar storage, stream processing, and large-scale data modeling.
- Hands-on knowledge of metrics, logging, tracing, profiling, and modern observability tools and practices.
- Expert-level programming ability in languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Scala.
- Experience building observability platforms from the ground up or significantly scaling existing platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and technologies such as Kubernetes and service mesh.
- Experience driving adoption of internal platforms through documentation, user experience, and developer advocacy.
- Experience applying machine learning or anomaly detection to observability use cases.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-influence skills.
- Contributions to open-source observability projects are a plus.
