Responsibilities
- Shape Masabi’s platform architecture, including platform blueprints, standards, and best practices.
- Shape data architecture and strategy for structuring, storing, and using platform-generated data.
- Design and deliver scalable, robust, and cost-efficient services.
- Remain hands-on through coding, technical design, code reviews, and targeted contributions.
- Address complex platform challenges involving scalability, performance, resilience, and cost.
- Advise and influence engineering teams on technical decisions and standards.
- Contribute to technical roadmap planning, prioritization, architecture governance, forums, and working groups.
- Support RFP estimation and technical scoping for complex initiatives.
- Produce technical documentation and architecture artifacts for technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Strong experience designing and evolving distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Experience operating at Principal or Staff level and shaping technical direction across multiple teams or domains.
- Ability to contribute hands-on to code, design, and delivery.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and modern infrastructure practices.
- Experience making scale, reliability, performance, and cost trade-offs.
- Proven experience in data architecture, including data platforms, pipelines, warehousing, data lakes, or products built on large data stores.
- Ability to turn loosely defined business or technical problems into clear, actionable technical approaches.
- Experience contributing to engineering standards, architecture patterns, or platform direction.
- Strong experience with REST API design in complex, multi-service environments, ideally including front-end API consumption.
- Interest in or exposure to AI-enabled systems and their production architecture implications.
- Nice-to-have experience decomposing monoliths into microservices, working with event-driven architectures and Kafka, improving cloud cost and efficiency at scale, and using Kotlin, Java, DynamoDB, MySQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD.
