Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend synchronization and networking systems for reliable AI operations across edge devices, cloud environments, and isolated government systems.
- Architect data synchronization frameworks using content-addressable storage, Merkle trees, and CRDTs.
- Lead performance tuning, debugging, and optimization of distributed software in resource-constrained and intermittently connected environments.
- Apply security-first design through threat modeling, secure key management, and cryptographic primitives and protocols.
- Collaborate with MLOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams to deploy and integrate AI components in restricted or air-gapped systems.
- Contribute to cross-functional architecture discussions and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain testing, observability, validation, reliability, and compliance-readiness practices.
- Work with distributed networking concepts including distributed hash tables, content identifiers, gossip protocols, DAGs, overlay networks, and NAT traversal.
- Travel 25–50% to webAI offices and government field and test sites across the country.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of experience with backend systems languages, depending on leveling.
- Experience with peer-to-peer or decentralized networking frameworks.
- Active US security clearance.
- Rust development is required, with the opportunity to build proficiency on the job if needed.
