Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java and Spring Boot services, microservices, and reusable backend components.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs, integrations, authentication and authorization flows, messaging, event-driven patterns, and data transformations.
- Integrate cloud platforms, SaaS products, enterprise applications, and internal systems.
- Write scalable, maintainable, secure, and high-performance software in accordance with engineering standards.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, code quality improvements, and secure coding practices.
- Support distributed systems, monitoring, operational readiness, production troubleshooting, reliability, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, architects, developers, QA teams, and platform teams.
- Document technical designs, service behavior, APIs, integration flows, and operational procedures.
- Identify technical issues, dependencies, risks, and delivery blockers and escalate them appropriately.
- Mentor junior developers where required and contribute to continuous engineering improvement.
Requirements
- Hands-on Java development experience with core Java, object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, concurrency, and design principles.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining Spring Boot services, microservices, and reusable backend components.
- Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, including modeling, error handling, authentication, authorization, versioning, and documentation.
- Experience integrating applications with cloud platforms and enterprise systems through APIs, messaging, event-driven patterns, or integration frameworks.
- Experience with GitLab, branching strategies, merge requests, automated build pipelines, deployment processes, and source control practices.
- Understanding of database concepts, SQL query writing and optimization, and relational databases.
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, code quality tools, secure coding, distributed systems, high-throughput services, scalability, reliability, monitoring, and operational support.
- Valued experience with compliance, colleague, or enterprise digital workplace domains.
- Valued experience with Kafka, queues, event streaming, authentication flows, and data transformation.
- Knowledge of Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, and dependency injection.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or equivalent platform services.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies and globally distributed teams.
- Ability to work independently, own engineering outcomes, and contribute to development, delivery, and support improvements.
