Responsibilities
- Define and evolve architecture for secure, scalable, and highly available payment-network services.
- Coordinate technical delivery across teams, including releases, dependencies, defect triage, and cross-cutting issue resolution.
- Translate business needs into architecture and implementation direction with product and engineering leaders.
- Lead design reviews and make decisions involving APIs, service interactions, data, resiliency, security, and operational readiness.
- Define architecture guardrails, engineering standards, reference implementations, and reusable patterns across products and services.
- Design and govern multi-region resiliency architectures, including active-active and active-passive deployments, disaster recovery, replication, failover, and business continuity.
- Promote observability, monitoring, automation, self-healing, maintainability, and operational supportability.
- Mentor engineers and technical leads and provide leadership across multiple workstreams.
- Communicate architecture trade-offs, delivery risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Extensive software architecture and development experience with large-scale systems.
- Deep knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, messaging, event-driven architecture, SQL/NoSQL, and cloud-native platforms.
- Experience with secure engineering, DevOps, performance, resiliency, observability, and production-readiness practices.
- Experience leading Solution Architecture Reviews and creating or reviewing Technical Architecture Documents for distributed systems.
- Experience with distributed data management, replication, consistency models, recovery objectives, and geographic-region operations.
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering practices, including service-level objectives, error budgets, fault isolation, disaster recovery testing, and resilience validation.
- Ability to lead through influence across organizational boundaries and work with globally distributed teams.
- Experience balancing architecture, business priorities, scalability, security, resiliency, and operational considerations across multiple engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Payments or financial-services domain knowledge is preferred.
