Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end scientific solutions using statistics, optimization, machine learning, data, models, and user-facing applications.
- Use AI coding assistants and autonomous coding agents to explore data, prototype models, build software, write tests, and produce documentation.
- Decompose scientific and engineering problems, direct AI agents, and provide the domain context and constraints needed for correct results.
- Build data-driven models, AI-based decision-support tools, automated analysis pipelines, and web-based solutions with GUIs, 2D and 3D graphics, and cloud computing.
- Collaborate with client researchers and business leaders to solve research and product-development problems.
- Evaluate where AI and generative approaches are appropriate while balancing development speed, reliability, and reproducibility.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily standups.
- Interface directly with clients to define, demonstrate, and refine solutions.
- Handle client data and intellectual property responsibly using approved, secure AI-tool configurations.
- Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders in Japanese and English.
Requirements
- Native-level Japanese fluency is essential.
- Deep scientific expertise in areas such as statistics, optimization, and machine learning.
- Ability to translate client R&D problems into architectures spanning data, models, and user-facing applications.
- Ability to guide AI coding agents and apply scientific and engineering judgment to their outputs.
- Ability to collaborate directly with client researchers, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Clear technical communication in both Japanese and English.
- Strong integrity, analytical ability, curiosity, ownership, empathy, and ability to simplify complex topics.
