Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement complex software enhancements and solutions using Java and other required languages.
  • Enhance and maintain Alpha/Charles River Development modules, core frameworks, and facilities critical to system operation.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create sustainable solutions for complex business and technical problems.
  • Direct technical problem solving for projects or major project phases and troubleshoot mission-critical client implementations.
  • Participate in code reviews by providing informed guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes.
  • Participate in the agile scrum process, including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Plan and coordinate cross-team activities to complete assignments.
  • Work independently on design and development and mentor and guide junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign education equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • At least five years of full-lifecycle project development experience with Java applications in a similar industry.
  • Strong skills in core Java, server-side Java technologies, Spring frameworks, Agile methodologies, and SQL databases.
  • Experience with backend technologies including Kafka and microservices.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming, relational databases, scripting, and newer or advanced programming languages.
  • Experience or understanding of Kubernetes and a cloud platform such as Azure.
  • Experience with frontend technologies such as React is preferred.
  • Experience developing financial-services solutions, particularly for wealth management, is preferred.
