Responsibilities
- Implement and optimize horizontally and vertically scalable distributed-system components for large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Design fault-tolerant components with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented practices.
- Develop and execute load, performance, functional, fault-injection, brown-out, and other reliability tests.
- Build alarms, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures to detect and recover from failures.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, develop troubleshooting automation, participate in support rotations and incident response, and conduct root cause investigations.
- Implement encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance documentation, infrastructure-as-code automation, and change-management processes.
- Track work with minimal supervision, prioritize changing timelines, collaborate across teams, and recommend process and workflow improvements.
Requirements
- Experience designing and implementing distributed systems with scalability, resiliency, availability, and operational requirements.
- Ability to optimize systems for large-scale data processing and use distributed state-management and data-plane components.
- Experience with fault tolerance, replication, synchronization, failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented design.
- Experience with performance and load testing, fault-injection testing, monitoring, alerting, telemetry, dashboards, and incident response.
- Ability to develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools for cloud infrastructure troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Knowledge of encryption, access controls, security remediation, industry compliance standards, documentation, patching, rollback, and change management.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot standard and non-standard issues, analyze information from multiple sources, and collaborate effectively across teams.

- U.S. hiring range is $79,200 to $209,500 per annum, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.
