Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering teams to define and implement Infrastructure as a Service products that accelerate building and deployment.
- Build monitoring and alerting focused on symptoms rather than outages and help maintain enterprise-grade SLAs.
- Design, build, and operate internal frameworks for large-scale asynchronous and background processing.
- Evolve Sidekiq-based frameworks to execute distributed jobs reliably at massive scale.
- Own scaling behavior, reliability guarantees, failure modes, and operational safety for distributed-processing systems.
- Provide abstractions, tooling, and guardrails that let application teams use distributed processing safely.
- Improve observability, debuggability, and operational ergonomics for job-processing systems.
- Develop and maintain custom infrastructure services, centralized tooling, automation frameworks, and capacity-management capabilities.
- Participate in a PagerDuty rotation, respond to availability incidents, and turn incident learnings into system improvements and automation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-stack development experience.
- Experience working on large-scale API-driven systems.
- Experience with application and systems observability.
- Experience building and automating Kubernetes-based operators and custom resources.
- Ability to reason about interfaces, boundaries, edge cases, failure modes, behaviors, and implementations.
- Ability to collaborate across global remote teams, document work, deliver quickly, and manage multiple tasks and expectations.
