Responsibilities
- Design and implement capabilities for the international payments and Payment Acceptance platforms.
- Build REST services and integration components within a backend microservices architecture connected to a React frontend.
- Design and operate high-volume distributed systems for reliable payment processing across markets.
- Conduct architectural reviews, address technical debt, and improve the operational effectiveness of current and future solutions.
- Collaborate with the Payments Product team and engineering teams at external partners.
Requirements
- More than four years of software engineering experience, with emphasis on continuous integration and quality engineering.
- Experience taking concepts from inception through implementation and delivering thoroughly tested, high-quality solutions.
- Strong computer science fundamentals and hands-on experience with Java or Kotlin and Spring or Spring Boot.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs and working with high-volume distributed systems.
- Experience with Kafka event streams and distributed data storage systems such as Cassandra, Hazelcast, Oracle Coherence, or similar technologies.
- Experience with GCP or AWS, including services such as EC2, RDS, ELB, or CloudFront.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with New Relic, StatsD, ELK, Datadog, or Prometheus.
- Preferred experience developing payment gateways, acquiring platforms, issuing platforms, or equivalent payment systems.
- Preferred experience integrating local payment methods such as iDEAL, Klarna, or Trustly.
- Preferred experience working with major card schemes such as Visa or Mastercard.
- Experience in high-growth or scaling environments and comfort with ambiguity, ownership, and in-person collaboration.
