Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services and APIs that consistently enforce identity and privacy rules.
- Develop tooling and processes for safe, large-scale migrations away from legacy identity patterns.
- Define and evolve context-scoped authorization logic and reason through access-control edge cases.
- Partner with teams building messaging, trips, profile, and other product systems.
- Participate in design and code reviews and improve correctness across the codebase.
- Debug and resolve production issues through structured root-cause analysis.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Strong fundamentals in service-oriented architecture, API design, and data modeling.
- Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin and comfort working in a microservices environment with RPC frameworks, service IDLs, and dependency injection.
- Experience designing systems where correctness and authorization are first-class concerns.
- Track record of shipping migrations or infrastructure changes used by other teams, with attention to backward compatibility and rollout safety.
- Strong written communication and ability to document problems, root causes, trade-offs, and proposed solutions.
- Ability to turn ambiguous privacy or identity requirements into concrete technical designs.
