Responsibilities
- Build, operate, and continuously improve eBay’s messaging and streaming platforms.
- Design and develop a streaming lakehouse storage system for large-scale data processing and analytics.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues to reduce downtime.
- Improve monitoring, logging, and alerting to strengthen observability.
- Collaborate with global engineering partners to deliver resilient distributed systems.
- Develop expertise in streaming, storage, and distributed-system technologies.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in computer science, including algorithms, operating systems, networking, and databases.
- Proficiency in at least one of Java, Rust, or C++.
- Deep understanding of message middleware such as Kafka, Pulsar, or RocketMQ.
- Familiarity with lakehouse table formats such as Apache Iceberg, Apache Paimon, or Apache Fluss.
- Ability to work effectively within a global team environment.
- Preferred: experience designing and implementing distributed systems.
- Preferred: familiarity with RocksDB or LevelDB and database storage internals.
- Preferred: contributions to relevant open-source projects.
