Responsibilities
- Architect and develop highly scalable, mission-critical back-end systems.
- Own substantial portions of Agoda’s systems from strategic vision through bytecode-level implementation.
- Enable cross-team collaboration and contribute to major engineering projects.
- Provide thoughtful feedback, nurture an inclusive engineering environment, and champion engineering fundamentals.
- Identify and implement optimization opportunities across the technology stack, focusing on cost, efficiency, velocity, and developer experience.
- Provide technical leadership and explain complex technical trade-offs to business owners and C-suite executives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience owning production services across design, development, deployment, monitoring, and evolution.
- Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Scala, Java, or C#.
- Ability to research deeply and make decisions on complex projects while working independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical details to stakeholders at all levels.
- Expertise in back-end engineering and understanding of trade-offs across front-end, mobile, data, and analytics engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master's or Ph.D. in a technical field is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes, automation tools, and CI/CD practices relevant to machine learning is preferred.
- Experience with Rust, C, or another low-level language is preferred.
