Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the long-term technical vision for a scalable and adaptable search platform.
  • Participate in technical reviews, share engineering best practices, and collaborate on search-related technical challenges.
  • Develop advanced search capabilities including NLP, vector search, and personalization.
  • Build crawlers and web information parsing solutions for large content search systems.
  • Create and optimize search capabilities using KPIs such as click-through rate, query distribution, and zero-search metrics.
  • Build and operate large-scale, highly available distributed systems and low-latency APIs in cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineering teams to align search initiatives with business goals.

Requirements

  • Experience with web content or large-scale content search solutions.
  • Experience with search products such as OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, Coveo, or LucidWorks Fusion.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or Scala, along with source control practices.
  • Proficiency in software debugging and problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience using AI code-generation tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, cloud deployment, event streaming, cloud platforms, APIs, and machine learning for search relevance.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in search engineering and at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of modern search technologies, cloud technologies, version control repositories, and A/B testing frameworks.
  • Experience building low-latency APIs in AWS using memory-storage solutions.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, interpersonal skills, and effective communication.
