Responsibilities
- Architect and lead PostgreSQL platform strategy across Dell’s global fleet, including HA, disaster recovery, security hardening, and performance baselines.
- Design and implement PostgreSQL on Kubernetes using operators, storage architecture, multi-region failover, and observability integrations.
- Build autonomous tooling for self-healing failover, automated VACUUM/analyze scheduling, and predictive capacity alerts using LLM-augmented logic.
- Author Infrastructure-as-Code modules with Ansible.
- Mentor database engineers through architecture reviews and represent PostgreSQL requirements in planning and vendor negotiations.
Requirements
- 10–14 years of IT infrastructure or platform engineering experience, or 7+ years with exceptional depth demonstrated through production scale, open-source contributions, or published work.
- At least 6 years of production PostgreSQL experience at scale, including partitioning, logical replication, connection pooling, WAL tuning, Patroni, and pgBackRest.
- At least 3 years of Kubernetes experience for stateful workloads, including operators, persistent storage design, backup and restore, and multi-cluster patterns.
- At least 3 years building automation frameworks in Python, Go, or Bash and authoring infrastructure rather than only using playbooks.
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing Database as a Service.
- Preferred experience with pgVector and high-dimensional embedding workloads, LLM-augmented operations, agentic coding, and PostgreSQL ecosystem open-source contributions.
