Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end materials informatics architectures connecting data, models, and user-facing applications.
- Use AI coding assistants and autonomous coding agents to explore data, prototype models, build software, write tests, and create documentation.
- Decompose materials and chemistry problems into agent-directed tasks and validate results against domain context and physical constraints.
- Build data-driven models, AI-based decision-support tools, automated analysis pipelines, and web-based solutions with GUIs, 2D/3D graphics, and cloud computing.
- Design and evaluate AI-enabled, agentic, and retrieval capabilities for client solutions.
- Collaborate with client researchers and business leaders to solve research and product-development problems.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily standups.
- Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders in Japanese and English while handling client data and intellectual property responsibly.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in materials science and chemistry.
- Strong knowledge of machine learning and materials informatics.
- Experience designing and building data-driven models, analysis pipelines, AI-enabled tools, and scientific software solutions.
- Ability to direct AI coding agents and assess when generative AI approaches are appropriate for small, sparse, and noisy datasets.
- Ability to collaborate directly with clients and translate R&D problems into technical architectures and working solutions.
- Native-level Japanese fluency and professional communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Ability to use AI tools only in approved and secure configurations when handling client data and intellectual property.
