Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, high-performance backend services.
- Develop public APIs using Java and internal APIs using gRPC.
- Lead system design decisions and align with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Build unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, load, and performance tests.
- Identify bottlenecks and technical debt and implement scalability, stability, monitoring, healing, and deployment improvements.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, author root-cause analyses, and provide live-site support.
- Maintain design documents, runbooks, change-management documents, and readiness plans.
- Lead cross-team projects as a single-threaded owner or technical lead and unblock other engineers.
- Evaluate competing technologies and advise the team on technology solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- Senior software engineering experience with backend development and internet-scale services.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, scalability, availability, security, and reliability.
- Proficiency in Java or C#, Spring Boot, API development and optimization, OData, and SQL.
- Ability to use Cursor AI, Kiro, and GitHub Copilot for development, documentation, and code quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaboration, and empathy; fluent English.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, event-driven architecture and Kafka experience, card payments experience, Docker and Kubernetes familiarity, API security and PCI DSS knowledge, and mobile development familiarity.
- Preferred AI experience includes deploying AI solutions, building AI agents or copilots, multi-agent systems, distributed AI architectures, vector databases, and AI evaluation and safety practices.
