Base Salary
$349k - $557k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build product-facing features and platform infrastructure for Netflix’s pricing, catalog, promotional targeting, and subscription commerce systems.
- Design and operate resilient, low-latency distributed systems handling high request volumes and global scale.
- Address race conditions, consistency guarantees, distributed transactions, and throughput optimization.
- Evolve infrastructure supporting Netflix’s expanding commerce surface, including ads, games, and live streaming.
- Own production reliability end-to-end and participate in on-call and incident response for Tier-0 services.
- Lead complex engineering projects from inception to delivery and communicate technical trade-offs to cross-functional partners.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building resilient, high-scale, low-latency distributed systems in production.
- Experience translating ambiguous business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
- Experience handling race conditions, eventual consistency, distributed transactions, and other correctness problems.
- Demonstrated ownership of a technical domain and leadership of complex engineering projects.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-engineering partners.
- Preferred experience with Java, Kotlin, C#, Scala, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Hive, AWS, Presto, Spark SQL, Apache Flink, gRPC, GraphQL, SQL and NoSQL multi-region data stores, Cassandra, Amazon Aurora, and Memcached.
- Preferred experience with production on-call responsibilities and Tier-0 incident response.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
