Responsibilities
- Spend weeks embedded in customer operations performing roles such as underwriting, claims processing, analysis, or revenue-cycle work before designing automation.
- Rebuild business functions from first principles with operators and Forward Deployed Executives, then implement the resulting systems.
- Ship production GenAI/LLM applications and handle post-prototype engineering challenges.
- Build or own evaluation suites for nondeterministic systems and explain the metrics and rationale.
- Work productively in unfamiliar codebases and languages while remaining hands-on in production engineering.
- Deliver cloud-native systems on AWS using containers, Kubernetes or ECS, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD.
- Lead redesign and scoping conversations with business-unit leaders, CTOs, and other senior stakeholders.
- Own ambiguous engagements autonomously and measure success by business-unit outcomes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software-building experience, including substantial production coding accountability.
- Current hands-on engineering experience and willingness to remain in the code.
- Production experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems rather than only demos or notebooks.
- Experience building or owning evaluation suites for nondeterministic systems.
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript and strong general engineering fundamentals.
- Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, including containers, Kubernetes or ECS, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar business domains quickly and work credibly with senior stakeholders.
- Solid AI/ML foundations and ability to reason about model failure modes.
- Strong hands-on production experience with Claude Code and Cowork.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Preferred: experience as a founder, CTO, or engineering leader returning to individual contribution.
- Preferred: depth in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management.
- Preferred: consulting, professional services, or embedded customer-facing delivery experience.
- Preferred: data platforms, MLOps, classical ML, fine-tuning, inference optimization, graph databases, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, open-source contributions, or public writing on applied AI.
