Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, reliable data-store solutions for online and analytical workloads.
- Manage and optimize SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases, including schemas, queries, replication, backups, recovery, and performance monitoring.
- Build and maintain data integration pipelines across heterogeneous data stores.
- Promote relational and NoSQL database design best practices across engineering teams.
- Collaborate with data engineering and data science teams to address data challenges and deliver scalable solutions.
- Contribute to data governance and security initiatives for the data platform.
- Troubleshoot issues across hardware, software, network, and database environments.
- Build automation and tooling for provisioning, version control, CI/CD, and deployment.
- Write stored procedures and scripts in support of product development.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and research emerging technologies to inform future data strategy.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience managing high-performing production databases.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience writing complex, highly optimized SQL queries across large datasets.
- 3+ years of experience designing, optimizing, and managing PostgreSQL databases in production.
- Strong SQL Server expertise, including clustering, high-availability groups, partitioning, and performance optimization.
- Strong MySQL expertise, including replication, partitioning, indexing, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- 3+ years of experience writing and maintaining Terraform configurations for cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant, or pgvector.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud database solutions such as AWS RDS, Aurora, or DynamoDB.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with relational, analytical, NoSQL, and data warehouse solutions; ETL development; highly available architectures; systems administration; scripting; configuration management; virtualized environments; and repeatable OS- and database-level automation.
- Experience with Windows and/or Unix systems administration and Python, Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
- AWS certification is a plus.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and data-modeling presentation skills.
