Responsibilities
- Design, build, and continually improve the Pear Assessment product and related services.
- Build and ship features that power real-time formative assessments and classroom engagement experiences.
- Develop and maintain high-performance backend services in Typescript.
- Create intuitive, high-performance React interfaces for interactive assessments and dashboards.
- Enhance OpenSearch-based semantic search systems for educational document discovery.
- Optimize data pipelines for low-latency insights and feedback.
- Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to create impactful technical solutions.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance under high usage.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Architect and operate cloud-native systems on AWS.
- Work with MongoDB and other data stores for large-scale data management.
- Integrate AWS IoT services for real-time classroom interactions.
- Incorporate LLM/AI services for intelligent features.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in building scalable software features.
- Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js/Python.
- Experience building modern React applications with TypeScript.
- Familiarity with designing and consuming APIs and backend services.
- Working knowledge of databases, including SQL or NoSQL.
- Understanding of caching concepts and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with modern frontend tooling and libraries.
- Ability to build reliable and maintainable features with guidance.
- Strong ownership mindset focused on code quality and testing.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
