Responsibilities
- Own system design for agentic capabilities, including orchestration, context and state, tool boundaries, and reliability patterns.
- Write technical design reviews, design documents, standards, and decision records that establish architectural direction.
- Prototype architectural decisions and validate them before teams commit to large-scale implementation.
- Partner with Data Science and engineering teams to integrate models and agents with APIs, event streaming, storage, and platform services.
- Review engineering architecture proposals and provide substantive feedback on design and risk.
- Build consensus across engineering teams and communicate architectural trade-offs to executives and customers.
- Drive AI-assisted and agentic development practices across engineering.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and raise the organization’s technical bar.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience as a senior, staff, or principal-level architect or technical lead designing production systems.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, service boundaries, consistency models, event-driven architecture, API design, and reliable operation at scale.
- Production experience building, prototyping, and architecting agentic or LLM-powered systems, including agent loops, context engineering, MCP, tool or function calling, RAG, memory and state management, reliability, and guardrails.
- Working knowledge of data modeling, pipeline design, and streaming versus batch processing.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, present technical direction, earn engineering buy-in, and review systems designed by others.
- Strong technical writing, mentorship, and communication skills, including the ability to explain architectural decisions to executives and customers.
- Experience with multi-agent orchestration patterns is preferred.
- Experience with Node.js/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kafka, AWS, and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience leading AI-assisted or agentic development adoption and partnering with Data Science or ML teams is preferred.
- Cybersecurity industry experience is preferred.
