Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable low-latency APIs, event-driven services, and integration layers for membership, loyalty, rewards, and consumer engagement use cases.
- Develop customer-facing web applications and backend services for consistent membership and loyalty experiences across digital channels.
- Configure, extend, and integrate the Antavo loyalty platform, including workflows, rewards, member lifecycle processes, event processing, and promotions.
- Integrate Antavo with commerce, customer, marketing automation, and data platforms to support accurate near-real-time member-data synchronization.
- Apply distributed-systems patterns such as asynchronous processing, idempotency, caching, retries, circuit breakers, and event-driven architectures.
- Implement monitoring, logging, performance optimization, and other practices for secure, observable, reliable, and resilient systems.
- Collaborate with product owners, engineers, architects, data engineers, and AI/ML engineers on technical design and delivery.
- Contribute reusable libraries, reference implementations, engineering standards, and platform capabilities.
- Troubleshoot production issues through monitoring, logging, crash analysis, and root-cause investigation.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed backend systems on cloud-native platforms.
- Experience implementing or integrating enterprise loyalty platforms; Antavo experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of design patterns, data structures, and algorithms with practical real-world application.
- Expertise in backend engineering, API design, microservices, event-driven architectures, and scalable integration patterns using Java and Spring Boot.
- Working knowledge of React and modern frontend development practices.
- Experience with Node.js and related frameworks.
- Experience with event-streaming platforms such as Kafka.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, database architecture, and distributed data management.
- Experience with observability, reliability engineering, and performance optimization.
- Experience using coding agents, LLMs, or AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Experience in eCommerce, retail, or consumer digital products is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
