Responsibilities
- Perform evidence-based technical governance reviews covering architecture, code, integrations, hosting, identity, data flows, delivery pipelines, operability, security, and accessibility.
- Confirm delivered solutions align with approved designs and standards, and document findings, recommendations, owners, technical debt, and waivers through closure.
- Review modernization solution architectures and translate mission and business needs into architecture decisions, integration approaches, delivery guidance, and reusable patterns.
- Use AI-assisted development tools across requirements, design, coding, testing, documentation, modernization, and troubleshooting while maintaining human review, security, quality, traceability, provenance, and data protection.
- Create design standards, reference architectures, proofs of concept, prototypes, and reusable implementations based on governance findings.
- Evaluate platforms and solution options against mission fit, compatibility, security, scalability, usability, accessibility, cost, vendor risk, and operational supportability.
- Lead small technical efforts, mentor junior contributors, review deliverables, resolve blockers, and complete architecture and engineering work directly.
- Present evidence-based findings and recommendations to engineering teams, contractors, and federal stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or technical leadership, including building, deploying, and supporting production web applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- U.S. citizen or Green Card holder who resides in the United States and is authorized to work in the U.S.; must be able to obtain and maintain a government Public Trust.
- Hands-on full-stack solution development experience with modern frameworks and languages such as React, Angular, Node.js, Java, PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
- Experience owning solutions or major features from discovery and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or comparable tools, including delivered outcomes and lessons learned.
- Experience conducting technical governance, architecture, code, integration, or delivery reviews and converting findings into prioritized recommendations.
- Experience as a hands-on technical lead guiding junior contributors or a small technical team while producing individual architecture and engineering deliverables.
- Working knowledge of Git-based workflows, automated testing, web and API security fundamentals, cloud-native delivery practices, and Section 508/WCAG accessibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication, technical judgment, and ability to explain solution choices and tradeoffs to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience with structured platform evaluations, ServiceNow, cloud architecture, data lake or lakehouse platforms, analytics and AI/ML platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, REST, GraphQL, event-driven architectures, reference architectures, and federal health missions.
- Preferred cloud architecture, developer, AI, or AI-assisted development certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or relevant vendors.
