Responsibilities
- Drive architecture, development, integration, and testing of an extensible and configurable Run-Time Assurance module for autonomous systems.
- Integrate and test safety capabilities with mission-autonomy software and high-assurance middleware across diverse physical platforms.
- Develop C++ software with real-time guarantees and support production systems, including X-BAT aircraft.
- Drive software quality practices including code analysis, audit trails, principled reviews, and certification artifacts.
- Create documentation such as static and dynamic analysis reports, architecture decision records, interface control diagrams, and system models.
- Mentor and guide developers on safe software development practices.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 9 years with a master’s degree, 7 years with a PhD, or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated expertise designing and developing C++-based safety-critical software systems with real-time guarantees.
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving software practices that improve quality and assurance.
- Experience integrating software with real-world physical systems and improving performance and reliability.
- Deep expertise in C++ software architecture patterns and their practical implementation.
- Strong knowledge of software assurance certifications including DO-178C and MIL-HDBK-516.
- Strong Git and Linux development skills.
- Technical leadership experience setting standards, guiding teams through complex challenges, and collaborating effectively.
- Preferred experience with strict C++ coding standards such as MISRA C++ and JSF AV C++.
- Preferred hands-on experience taking solutions through airworthiness certification processes.
