Responsibilities
- Lead development of services or products within an Agile Scrum or Kanban team.
- Write, test, debug, and deliver production-quality code primarily in Java, with some Python or other-language development.
- Lead automation of build, testing, deployment, infrastructure-as-code, and test environment workflows.
- Use Ant, Gradle, Jenkins, JUnit, Cucumber, Ansible, and Terraform across development and delivery workflows.
- Design and build RESTful APIs, microservices, scalable distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
- Work with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other relational and NoSQL databases.
- Measure service health and performance and troubleshoot coding or design issues.
- Create high-level product specifications and design documents and provide architectural blueprints.
- Guide and assist the development team throughout implementation.
- Communicate technical ideas and influence decisions with management, product, engineering, and technology peers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience developing enterprise-grade software and services.
- Strong hands-on Java experience, preferably with Spring Boot, plus familiarity with Python or similar languages.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Strong understanding of frontend technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue and full-stack development concepts.
- At least 2 years of experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
- At least 2 years of experience designing and architecting complex, scalable systems.
- Proven experience as a lead engineer or designer on high-volume, distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automation tools.
- Strong knowledge of database design and data modeling for SQL and NoSQL systems.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and influence decisions.
- Understanding of microservices, cloud application deployment, and application scaling.
- Preferred qualities include an Agile/DevOps mindset, passion for high-quality code, continuous improvement, communication, and collaboration.
