Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical authority and hands-on contributor for complex distributed systems.
- Lead architecture and design decisions for scalable, secure, resilient microservices and event-driven platforms.
- Design and code software solutions, from solution design through implementation, deployment, and operational support.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to evaluate options, influence decisions, and reach architectural consensus.
- Mentor and coach engineers across multiple teams on system design, coding practices, and technical growth.
- Promote engineering practices for code quality, testing, performance, security, observability, automation, and reliability.
- Identify and address technical debt, architectural risks, and performance bottlenecks.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to technical, business, and executive audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; comparable education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of industry-relevant experience is typically required.
- Strong proficiency in Java, including hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, RESTful services, and microservices architectures.
- Experience with Core Java, SQL, MySQL or equivalent relational databases, ActiveMQ, and Kafka.
- Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms, REST APIs, persistence layers, database design, optimization, and data modeling across relational and NoSQL data stores.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices, event-driven architectures, domain-driven design, networking, operating systems, and application security.
- Knowledge of performance tuning, scalability, DevOps, cloud-native practices, CI/CD, containerization, and orchestration.
- Experience with or exposure to OpenShift, Kubernetes, Azure or AWS, and CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket or Jenkins is preferred.
- Interest in agentic or applied AI use cases and Microsoft 365 Copilot and productivity-focused AI tools is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, mentoring, adaptability, and technical leadership abilities.
