Responsibilities
- Develop high-fidelity modelling and simulation scenarios and vignettes in AFSIM for tactical research.
- Verify and validate simulated scenarios, analyze results, and provide tactical feedback to stakeholders.
- Lead projects and collaborate with developers, pilots, analysts, and other multidisciplinary teams through the software development lifecycle.
- Gather user input, analyze software and hardware requirements, and derive or modify functional requirements.
- Refactor software for reusability, documentation, and performance optimization.
- Use GitLab for version control and continuous integration and delivery, and perform code reviews and unit testing.
- Research and model the physics and aerodynamics of radar sensors, aircraft, weapons systems, and related platforms.
- Develop, integrate, maintain, test, debug, and troubleshoot applications using C++, Python, C, or C#.
- Develop system documentation, manuals, programs, data files, procedures, test plans, test procedures, and technical test reports.
- Correct program errors and verify program accuracy through system acceptance testing.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of demonstrated software development experience.
- At least four years of recent experience in a modelling and simulation environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics, or a related college technical diploma in information technology, software development, or computer science.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining simulation software.
- Experience with graphics programming using OpenGL, Qt, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience developing software add-ons, extensions, or plug-ins.
- Experience integrating, testing, and troubleshooting software applications and evaluating software products for modelling and simulation applications.
- Experience with test plans, test procedures, and technical test reports in a modelling and simulation environment.
- Experience contributing to defence or military software projects.
- Experience using and configuring Computer Generated Forces applications.
- Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, Unigine, Delta3D, or equivalent simulation/game engines.
- Experience developing applications that interoperate using applicable simulation or military protocols and standards.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain Secret Level II Canadian Federal Government security clearance, VCR clearance, and Controlled Goods clearance.
