Responsibilities
- Build and maintain CI/CD systems, test infrastructure, release automation, and deployment safety mechanisms.
- Improve developer workflows through local and remote development environments, build performance, IDE integrations, and AI-assisted development tooling.
- Maintain source control systems, monorepo tooling, Bazel build systems, code review infrastructure, and developer environments.
- Build self-service platforms and high-leverage infrastructure that reduce systemic friction for engineering teams.
- Operate infrastructure and developer platforms at scale for thousands of engineers.
Requirements
- Strong Platform Engineering background with solid programming experience in Python and Go.
- Proven track record of building and operating systems at scale and supporting large engineering organizations of 1,000 or more engineers.
- Strong experience with AWS or GCP, with AWS used at Canva.
- Thorough production experience with Kubernetes containerization and orchestration.
- Experience building and maintaining complex CI/CD pipelines at scale using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Buildkite.
- Experience with Bazel, Gradle, or similar monorepo build tools; Bazel experience is highly valued.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Java or TypeScript, release automation, developer tooling, open-source infrastructure or developer tools, AI/LLM integration in developer workflows, or large-scale build and test infrastructure is valued.
