Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture of multi-tenant ordering, checkout, and fulfillment platforms.
- Own Tier-1 services serving millions of users and lead response to high-severity, cross-team production incidents.
- Drive root-cause analysis and implement lasting reliability guardrails, regression coverage, safer feature flags, and canary practices.
- Make and defend architecture-level cost, latency, throughput, and performance trade-offs across the technology stack.
- Build internal developer platforms, data platforms, and engineering productivity tooling.
- Design cross-organizational and cross-company integrations under demanding deadlines.
- Define and implement Swiggy’s long-term technology vision and set engineering best practices and technology choices.
- Own high-level and low-level design, write code, and operate systems in production.
- Guide the use of applied ML and GenAI in production architecture, including ranking, personalization, and LLM-based tooling.
Requirements
- 15–18 years of experience, including at least 15 years of software engineering and product delivery experience.
- Deep, hands-on ownership of complex software architecture; the role is not purely people management.
- Strong internals-level command of distributed systems, message queues, relational and NoSQL databases, caching, and container orchestration.
- Experience leading incident response for high-severity, high-traffic production outages with disciplined root-cause analysis.
- Experience designing and shipping internal platforms or tools that improve developer productivity across an organization.
- Exceptional coding skills in Java or Go and excellent command of data structures and algorithms.
- Ability to operate across the stack, with depth in backend and data systems and credibility in frontend and mobile performance.
- Working fluency with applied ML and GenAI in production systems.
- Experience in high-throughput consumer businesses such as food delivery, quick-commerce, or fintech is a strong plus.
- Strong communication, architectural judgment, curiosity, humility, and ability to work across technical, product, and business teams.
