Responsibilities
- Operate and implement new features in the team’s framework and managed services.
- Work with data scientists to improve their experience and productivity with the framework and services.
- Identify and implement computational improvements.
- Fix bugs and contribute patches to open-source projects such as Spark, Iceberg, Hadoop, and Airflow.
- Act as an expert in Spark and Scala.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Help raise quality, reliability, and engineering practices across the team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience and proficiency in Scala or another JVM-based language.
- Experience with Spark or other large-scale data-processing frameworks.
- Basic knowledge of Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3, and Athena.
- Kubernetes experience is a plus.
- Interest in backend technologies, architecture, mathematics, statistics, or adtech is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, independent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
