Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision and coordinate shared technical direction across multiple Flights teams.
- Contribute to annual and quarterly planning with product managers, engineering managers, and engineers, translating plans into actionable priorities.
- Remain primarily hands-on while mentoring engineers, unblocking delivery, and collaborating with dependent teams.
- Shape engineering approaches, architectural changes, and investment priorities in support of business goals and scale.
- Lead cross-team initiatives, resolve dependencies and blockers, and drive broader organisational alignment.
- Build and operate reliable flight-booking systems covering platform reliability, post-booking self-service, booking error recovery, and airline inventory scaling.
- Raise engineering quality through mentorship, design reviews, pairing, and communication of technical complexity to the wider business.
Requirements
- Proven experience coordinating significant multi-team technical initiatives and managing dependencies across stakeholders.
- Ability to design scalable, evolvable systems and communicate clear technical roadmaps.
- Experience monitoring, testing, deploying, and operating services in production.
- Experience in complex domains such as flights, travel, fintech, or other constrained customer-facing systems is preferred.
- Strong backend experience with comfort across the full stack; Perk’s stack is approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend.
- Experience leading observability and reliability practices, defining SLOs, handling incidents, and conducting blameless post-mortems.
- Track record of mentoring engineers through mentorship, design reviews, pairing, and technical leadership.
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-augmented development, agentic coding, and AI-assisted code review.
- Ability to work within commuting distance of a Perk hub and work in person 3 days per week.
