Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain the native Android application using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Deliver features from technical design through release and post-launch iteration.
- Own Android release operations including signing, App Bundles, Play Console tracks, staged rollouts, pre-launch reports, crash triage, and ANR triage.
- Implement automated testing strategies and Android CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate mini-apps, payments, virtual currency systems, APIs, and mobile SDKs.
- Design scalable Android architecture covering modularization, dependency injection, navigation, state management, and maintainability.
- Optimize Gradle builds, convention plugins, version catalogs, build caching, and configuration caching.
- Build and maintain an internal Compose component library and design system implementation.
- Establish coding standards, design patterns, technical specifications, and architecture documentation.
- Coordinate shared API contracts, design tokens, feature flags, and analytics schemas across Android, iOS, and React Native applications.
- Drive mobile observability through structured logging, crash monitoring, performance tracing, and release health dashboards.
- Use AI coding agents and assistants, create supporting context and tooling, and design evaluations and guardrails for AI features.
- Mentor engineers on Android development and AI-assisted engineering practices.
- Collaborate with product, design, backend, QA, project management, iOS, and React Native teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional Android development experience with deep hands-on Kotlin expertise.
- Proven experience shipping commercial Android applications that are currently live on Google Play.
- Strong command of Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow, Lifecycle, Room, WorkManager, and Navigation.
- Understanding of MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, dependency injection, and state management.
- Experience with JUnit, Compose UI tests, Espresso, Robolectric, and Android CI/CD release pipelines.
- Experience profiling performance, memory, and battery using Android Studio Profiler, Macrobenchmark, and Baseline Profiles.
- Experience supporting fragmented device and OS-version landscapes, including large-screen and foldable devices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Daily professional use of AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor.
- Experience with third-party integrations, REST/GraphQL APIs, and mobile SDK consumption.
- Strong problem-solving, results-oriented, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with app widgets, deep linking, push notifications, FCM, or background work at scale is preferred.
- Experience bridging Kotlin modules into React Native or working with Kotlin Multiplatform is preferred.
- Familiarity with Google Play Billing and alternative billing or external offer programs is preferred.
- Familiarity with gaming ecosystems, virtual currency, in-app purchases, payment flows, and digital commerce is preferred.
- Experience with mobile security practices, open source, technical writing, or conference talks is preferred.
