Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of projects involving multiple stakeholders and systems.
  • Develop deep expertise in financial products and act as a trusted technical advisor to the business.
  • Perform technical scoping, prototyping, architecture, and feasibility analysis.
  • Design and implement scalable systems for account lifecycles, interest and repayment allocation, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Use domain modelling to create understandable, testable, and evolvable software.
  • Build systems that avoid single points of failure and support zero-downtime releases.
  • Translate ambiguous product requirements into actionable technical plans.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues while maintaining system reliability and operability.
  • Write production-ready code, review work, document systems, and support collaborative engineering practices.
  • Improve development practices and engineering standards, and share approaches and tooling with the wider engineering organization.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools while validating generated code for correctness, performance, and security.

Requirements

  • Extensive back-end engineering experience.
  • Production experience building and operating microservices and distributed systems, including durable cross-service communication, transactional correctness, and failure modes at scale.
  • Extensive experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL or alternatively MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, or similar.
  • Experience building correctness-critical systems such as ledgers, accounting, billing, or payments, ideally in a regulated setting, including immutable audit trails and reconciliation controls.
  • Experience leading a feature or project end to end, from scoping and design through delivery and production operation.
  • Daily use of AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Maths, or another quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong technical or mathematical foundation and effective peer collaboration, code review, communication, and knowledge sharing.
  • Preferred experience in high-logic or high-scale fields such as Fintech, Gaming, Healthcare Tech, Logistics, Security, or Cryptography.
  • Preferred working knowledge of Snowflake and dbt for analytical or reporting pipelines.
  • Preferred knowledge of messaging frameworks and event-driven patterns such as Kafka.
